Witt/Kieffer has been retained to assist in the search for the Director, Informing Decisionmakers at the California Health Care Foundation (CHCF). This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned leader to lead one of CHCF’s three overarching goals and program areas.

Headquartered in Oakland, California, CHCF is dedicated to advancing meaningful, measurable improvements in the way the health care delivery system provides care to the people of California, particularly those with low-incomes or those whose needs are not well served by the status quo. The organization follows three overarching goals of improving access to coverage and care for low-income Californians, ensuring high-value care and informing decisionmakers

The Informing Decisionmakers team seeks to make information readily available and to fuel understanding of the most important issues in health care today. The program’s goal is to capture and share objective, credible data to increase the use of evidence by a wide array of health care industry and government decisionmakers.

The Director is an extremely critical role that will lead the foundation’s work in the Informing Decisionmakers program, working collaboratively with the team in the development and implementation of philanthropic strategies, goals and objectives for the program’s portfolio of grants. This individual will provide guidance and structure to grantees to produce and develop high quality research data, facts and information which form the foundation for CHCF’s publications and information sharing such as the Almanac series, market analysis and trending topics. The Director also provides critical tools and resources to the broader organization and mission, providing data, facts and analysis in support of CHCF’s other program areas to increase the impact of the foundation’s overall grant making.

Qualified candidates will have experience working in a research, policy, consulting and/or academic environment and possess knowledge of the tools of philanthropy and the grant making process. In addition this individual should possess leadership experience preferably in both private and public sector health organizations and bring a broad generalist knowledge base, ideally with expertise in California’s health care markets, public and/or commercial health care delivery and financing and health policy.
